Worth the Wait

Hello there!

I stumbled across this beautiful “Worth the Wait” banner on Style Me Pretty recently. The banner (real calligraphy)  hung above the couple’s ceremony site while they said their vows.

This happy couple actually isn’t from the same wedding with the banner, but the black and white elegance, along with the way they’re looking at each other was just too perfect to pass up. This couple showcases something very vital to remember about love, weddings, and life in general. Their look at each other tells everything- they are so in love. They are made for each other.

Many times, I find myself getting caught up in the worry and pressure of finding “the one” for me… right this very second. I constantly wonder when I will meet the man God made especially for me. Surrounded by media, friends, and family who are all so happily in love, it’s easy to feel like I’m doing something wrong. Or that something is wrong with me. Or that I’m unlovable. But, then I remember the Almighty, wonderfully amazing God I serve.

He knows. God knows who I’m going to marry, what I’m going to do with the days of my life, and what paths and experiences are ahead of me. When I get stressed or feel lonely, I just have to slow down and remember this glorious truth. He makes all things good and right in His timing- He knows exactly what we need and when we need it. Even when I don’t know. This is so scary but also so comforting at the same time. Even though we don’t know what the future holds, the guy who knows how many hairs we have on our head (Luke 12:7) and who knew us and our life before we born (Jeremiah 1:5) knows it all!!

He makes all things good in His timing, as Ecclesiastes 3:1 says ” There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens”. This verse is a great reminder to remain patient. Even though patience is hard and waiting for the perfect guy may seem like ages in the making, I know my God and I know He will fulfill His promises. So, don’t fear if you’re single. Don’t stress if you’ve been waiting for quite some time. God’s timing is perfect… so enjoy the period of waiting and see it as a gift to get to know the Father on such a deep level. When the perfect guy does come into my life, according to the Lord’s plan, I know I will be so glad and thankful for this period of waiting. God is good. Trust that His plans are far better than any you could imagine.

This beautiful set of photos showcases couples that I thought just radiated love. Love that only happens when two people are made for each other. After all of the waiting in their lives, they found each other- the one to spend their lives with. I’ll leave you with a saying that I find myself saying to myself whenever I’m confused/overwhelmed/ anxious:

don’t know, but God knows. And that’s awesome.

Some other Bible verses to inspire you about this topic:

“And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man…Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and clings to his wife, and they become one flesh.”- Genesis 2:22-24

“For if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.”- Romans 8:24

“For we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to His purpose.”- Romans 8:28

So, don’t stress. God’s got this. One day, I know I’ll have my own beautiful wedding and amazing Christ-centered marriage that follows the wedding day. And I know it will be 100% worth the wait.

Trust Him in the waiting.

Why I Love Wedding Films

Hello there!

I can’t believe I’m just now writing about my obsession for wedding films. There’s just something about watching a couple’s special day come to life that is so magical. After browsing through a couple’s album on Style Me Pretty, I just love when there’s a link to a wedding film at the end. Another main way I find swoon-worthy wedding films to watch is by going directly to wedding film makers’ websites. Most film companies have a link to their blogs filled with wedding videos for you to pour your heart into. Check out my favorites page to see some of my favorite wedding film producers I’ve discovered over the years.

I’ve composed a list of the top 5 things I love about wedding videos. Here they are:

1. Emotion. This is obvious. The tears, the laughter, the guests’ happiness, and the couple’s pure bliss- it comes to life in a wedding film.

2. Music. I would be lying if I said I hadn’t cried over my fair share of wedding videos. I think one part of this comes from the music that is beautifully tied video clips. My iTunes library is now filled with lots of songs from my wedding film discoveries and I’m dang proud of it.

3. The Guests. One aspect of wedding films I love is when the cameras sweep over the guests. Whether it be at the ceremony or reception, seeing the guests reaction always makes me smile. They may be crying during the vows or dancing up a storm on the dance floor, but regardless these guests make up a huge part of the wedding. Wedding films capture their happiness.

4. Speeches. When those uber-talented film makers play a Best Man’s or Bridesmaid’s or Father of the Bride speech in the background of beautiful wedding footage, magic happens. Hearing what people who are so close to the bride and groom have to say about them is truly touching. Grab your Kleenex…

5. Movement. The way the bride’s dress moves in the breeze. The way the groom nervously fidgets at the altar. The way the crowd bursts into applause. This change from a still image to video incorporates a element of movement that is so wonderful.

Another very neat thing about wedding films is that the bride and groom can cherish it forever. After they make a grand exit (whether it be with twinkle lights or sparklers), the wedding ends. But, with a wedding film they can watch and re-watch the magic of their. And, they can pick up on neat moments they have missed during the wedding day.

To close out, I leave you with two of my all-time favorite wedding videos. I’ve yet to find any videos that stand out to me as much as these two do. I can honestly say these wedding videos have reaffirmed to me that I feel I belong in the wedding industry. After watching these, and countless others, I knew wanted to be a involved with weddings for the rest of my life. I I hope you enjoy them as much as I have 🙂

1. Jamie and Mike

This wedding gets me every time. Her dress is flawless. The Best Man’s speech? Golden. And the setting is my absolute favorite. Being a true Michigan girl, Northern Michigan is my favorite place in the world and weddings up there just make me so so so happy. Enjoy!

2. Jessica and Ronnie

What makes me love this video is the prayer in the beginning. And every single second after that. These two love Jesus and it’s incredible to hear love story and how they grew stronger together through faith. 10 out of 10.

Hues of Gold

Hello there! I write to you with a chocolate chai latte in hand, microeconomics papers spread out in front of me. Sure, I should be studying, but I’ve been at that for 5 hours now. I thought I’d reward myself with a break and let my heart dive into the beautiful world of weddings… aka my happy place. I created this mock up a few weeks ago from a beautiful wedding in Hawaii that I found on Style Me Pretty.

A few things I loved about this wedding (check out the full gallery here):

Small size. This wedding only included close friends and family and made the occasion seem more intimate something really special about that in my opinion.

Location. This one is obvious. A Hawaii backdrop, beautiful sunset, ocean breezes… ahhh take me there! I can practically feel the salt in my hair and the warm sun on my skin.

Simplicity. No need to add extra pizzazz to this already gorgeous setting. I liked how the ceremony decor was kept simple and clean, with a nice flowy white backdrop and not much else. The scenery and the adorable couple stand out beautifully.

Gold. What instantly stood out to me in these photos was the gold. I love gold- it’s such a meaningful color in my opinion. Not only is it warm, but it’s powerful. It’s a hey, look at me kinda color. Gold is confident, powerful, and treasured. The gold decor used throughout their reception was also a nice tie-in.The sunlight hitting the couple is a wonderful shade of gold- making their love story look even more magical. Take a look at what I’m talking about!

Gold also reminds me of Jesus. Britt Nicole’s song Gold tells us we are worth more than gold with Christ- pretty cool. If gold is so precious, we are even more beautiful and precious, all because we have a Savior who treasures us. It’s not doubt that God’s love was shining down at this wedding, just like He shines down on us every second of everyday. So friends, don’t forget to remember that you are golden. Just like the shades of gold in this beautiful wedding, you can always be reassured that God is shining on you always.

Meet Hayley!

Hello there!

The past two weekends I road-tripped up to Oklahoma to attend bridal showers for my cousin Hayley. With a dirty chai latte in hand (Dirty chai= chai tea latte with a shot of espresso. Life changing.), Taylor Swift’s new album blasting through my speakers, and a gift bag sitting in my front seat, I could hardly contain my excitement to finally be reunited with my family and most importantly, the bride-to-be, Hayley. Hayley is my older cousin and I easily call her one of my role models and best friends. Regardless of our 5 year age gap, we’ve always been super close. We are the only girl cousins on my mom’s side of the family and always have a ton of fun together. Living in Texas now for school makes me so much closer and I was more than happy to make the trip for a weekend celebration and get away.

Hayley is engaged to Brandon. Here is a photo of them- adorable right? They’re getting married January 3rd- so exciting!!

Okay sorry for the diversion. I thought you’d appreciate their adorable engagement photo though. Back to the showers.

The first shower was a bridal shower with just girls. Super cute, super girly, super festive. I’ve of course seen bridal showers and decor online, but I don’t think I had ever been to one until now. My expectations were reached and surpassed. Here’s a run down of the shower:

Food– Yogurt bar, fruit, and granola. Delicious cookies (I definitely ate too many). Coffee, lemonade, mimosas, and tea, all served out of cute pitcher dispensers.

Decor– Simple and cute. Ribbon banners. Pastel colors. Crafty and thoughtful touches (including my favorite, standing letters of her new last name decorated with ribbon, buttons, and various fabrics).

Location- A woman’s house. Very nice and grand, perfect setting for a girl’s afternoon celebration

Highlights- Hayley opened her gifts, I chatted with the other bridesmaids (this was my first time meeting some of them- so fun!), chatted with family and friends there. I helped pack up gifts and load them into the car (SO many beautiful gifts. You guys, wedding showers are like Christmas), tried on my Maid of Honor dress (LOVE it!), and spent some quality time after the shower just hanging out with Hayley and Brandon. This was my first time meeting him and it was great to see how in love they were!

Here’s a photo of me at the shower with Hayley!

The second shower was the following weekend! This one was much more formal couple’s shower at nighttime with many more guests. My mom came into town (so much fun!!) and we drove up to Oklahoma from Texas with my aunt and uncle. Our road trip was so fun- family can literally make you laugh until you cry. Once we got to Oklahoma, we just relaxed until the shower that took place that night. Here are the details:

Food– Cookies, petit fours, fruit, drinks, and light dinner options.

Decor– Minimal and tasteful. White and purple colors were incorporated (the wedding colors). The gifts were displayed on tables throughout the party for guests to observe.

Location- A couple’s house. Very spacious- perfect for the amount of guests there.

Highlights- Everyone mingled with each other. It was fun to catch up with family friends I hadn’t seen in a while and meet many new faces. My mom and I spent and a lot of time together which was great. I (with the help of my aunt) recorded all fo the gifts so Hayley could write proper thank you notes after the wedding. I got a chance to talk with the bridesmaids some more which was a lot of fun. The night lasted for 3-4 hours and eventually it was time for everyone to go home. We stayed to help pack up all of the gifts and loaded them into the car. My mom, aunt, and uncle and I ended the night by driving through Braums to celebrate the end of a great day.

Here’s a photo of the girls of my family- myself, my two aunts, my mom, and Hayley!

That’s all for now! Stay tuned for more weddings coming your way!
